Born in 1957 in Madhubani, West Champaran, Bihar, Ashrafi Ji came from a simple farming background and developed an entrepreneurial spirit from an early age.
From early small businesses and rice trading to traditional jaggery manufacturing, his journey reached a defining milestone in 1994, when he established his first kolhu-based jaggery production setup through M/s Ravi Traders.
What began on a small scale — producing jaggery and taking it to nearby markets by bullock cart — gradually grew into a network connecting farmers, village-level production and buyers across Bihar. Today, Gurshakti Traders is taking that same legacy into the modern era while keeping the values of purity, honest business, farmer relationships and trust at the heart of everything we do.

The journey of M/s Ravi Traders and Gurshakti Traders has been shaped by perseverance, traditional knowledge, farmer relationships and more than three decades of experience in jaggery.
Mr. Ashrafi Prasad was born in Madhubani, West Champaran, Bihar. Coming from a simple farming background, he understood the lives and challenges of local farmers from an early age.
Even after high school, Ashrafi Ji remained involved in small business activities. After graduation, he continued his business journey, including work in rice trading, before moving toward jaggery.
Seeing the demand for jaggery and the difficulties farmers faced with delayed sugar-mill payments, Ashrafi Ji established M/s Ravi Traders, learned traditional jaggery making and set up his first kolhu-based production unit in 1994.
As demand grew, more farmers joined the network. Ashrafi Ji helped farmers with guidance and, where possible, financial support to establish small jaggery setups. Their production was collected and taken to markets, creating opportunities for village families.
Over the years, the business developed strong relationships in markets including Danapur and Patna, Jahanabad, Gaya, Masaurhi, Dalsinghsarai and Sitamarhi.
Today, Mr. Ashrafi Prasad continues to guide the family from home with his experience and knowledge. His son Pramod Kumar and daughter-in-law Puja Kumari are taking the business forward under the Gurshakti Traders name, bringing traditional values into a modern era.
